renonciation!verzicht - performance franco-allemand 2020
Staging the search and exploration of the empty space
In September 2020, the first streaming experiment of the Franco-German performance project -renonciation!verzicht- directed by Jungyeon Kim and Ferenc Kréti took place in the pool. The performance in the pool as well as the music were 100% improvised, as an artistic result of the dialogue between the performers and the pool as a stage space, supported by visual artist Doi Park and guitarist Vakhtang Kharebava.
Confronted with the fear, limitations and renitence of the pandemic situation, we accepted it as a reality we had to deal with artistically. Three weeks of intensive rehearsals brought us to 4 fantastic and playful experiences as performers. Once in a cultural venue in the countryside near Wiesbaden, once in a swimming pool in Offenbach and twice in the Theater Landungsbrücken in Frankfurt am Main.
It all started with the idea of musician and performing artist Volker Kehl to use the special space of an empty indoor swimming pool as an art space. This idea received additional impetus with the outbreak of the pandemic. In an exchange with Ferenc Kréti, the plan grew to allow a "guest performance" of his German-French performance project. It was to be a first test and also a concrete beginning of the realization for a continuing artist project in the "pool", which only a few months later became the poolloop performance project ELEMENTS UNDER STAND.

CHAPTER ONE - Creating the Perfomer -
Inspired by the fabulous work of ANNA HALPRIN, we placed sculpture as part of the process in chapter one of our artist lab: creating the performer.
Based on our consideration of HALPRIN's Rodin project, we developed a solo performance in the natural landscape near our studio over the course of a day and a half. We began with the artists introduction by drawing/painting a real size body portrait to mirror their state of being as a performer. The next step was to embody that emotion through the creation of a sculpture. With this experience, they created a solo performance on a defined stage in nature, using natural material as a partner.

Thème: Responsabilité, localisation et action dans un monde en mutation Dix jeunes d'Allemagne et de France. Dix personnages qui au début de leur vie se posent la question d'un point de vue artistique-esthétique:
Où veux-je évoluer personnellement? Comment puis-je exister en tant qu'artiste? Et peut-être encore plus existentiellement: puis-je apporter une contribution à un monde de demain ou dois-je même prendre position sur le racisme, la dégradation de l'environnement et le changement climatique ??? Qu'est-ce que tout cela a à voir avec moi?
Prenez position. Prononcez. Mais quelles actions résultent de ce mot? Quel prix suis-je personnellement prêt à payer? AVERTISSEMENT ??? POURQUOI VRAIMENT? AVENIR? NO? QUOI?
Thème artistique: Développement performatif à travers la danse / le théâtre / la musique Dix essais constituent la base des réponses personnelles d'un groupe de jeunes artistes à l'heure. Les participants expérimentent des formes d'expression artistiques en utilisant des méthodes de travail de performance. Le français, l'allemand et l'anglais servent de ponts et de barrières linguistiques en contact avec un public lors de l'événement de clôture au Kultur- und Tagungshaus Rauenthal, dàutre performance aussi en Offenbach (invittion de poolloop art group) et dans l'église culturelle de la jeunesse Frankfurt am Main.
L'objectif est une expérience partagée des interprètes avec leur public. Des textes et des fragments de scènes des répétitions expérimentales déjà expérimentées ainsi que des éléments résultant de l'improvisation sont utilisés comme matériel.

Le développement est mis en oeuvre artistiquement sur trois chapitres.

Thema: Verantwortung, Verortung und Handeln in einer Welt der Veränderung.
Zehn junge Menschen aus Deutschland und Frankreich. Zehn Charaktere, die sich aus einer künstlerisch-ästhetischen Perspektive die Frage stellen: Wohin will ich mich persönlich entwickeln? Wie kann ich als Künstlerin, als Künstler bestehen? Und vielleicht noch existenzieller: Kann ich einen Beitrag für eine Welt von morgen leisten bzw. MUSS ich sogar Stellung gegenüber Rassismus, Umweltzerstörung und Klimawandel nehmen??? Was hat dies alles mit mir zu tun?
Positionen beziehen. Aussprechen.
Doch, welche Handlungen erfolgen aus dem gesagten Wort? Welchen Preis bin ich persönlich bereit zu bezahlen? VERZICHT??? FÜR WAS EIGENTLICH? ZUKUNFT? KEINE? WELCHE?
Künstlerisches Thema: Performative Entwicklung mittels Tanz/Theater/Musik
Zehn Essaies bilden die Grundlage für persönliche Antworten einer jungen Künstlergruppe auf Zeit. Mittels Arbeitsweisen der Performance experimentieren die Beteiligten an künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen. Französisch, Deutsch und Englisch dienen sprachlich als Brücke und Barriere im Kontakt zu einem Publikum bei der Abschlussveranstaltung im Kultur- und Tagungshaus Rauenthal sowie weiteren Auftritten in Offenbach am Main auf Einladung des poolloop art group und der Jugendkulturkirche Frankfurt am Main. Das Ziel ist eine geteilte Erfahrung der Performer mit ihrem Publikum. Als Material kommen Texte und Szenenfragmente aus den zuvor erfahrenen experimentellen Proben sowie Elemente, die als Ergebnis von Improvisation entstehen, zum Einsatz.
